He is retired from his ‘real job’ as the Vice President of the billion dollar operations of SKF, and he continues to reside in Carlisle and serves as an adjudicator as well as consultant to numerous bands and drum corps. He remained for five more years before retiring but returned again in 2000 and guided the group back into the top 12. Larry’s history with the corps began in 1986 and saw the corps’ first top 12 finish in 1987. He was the long time Program Coordinator for the Bluecoats Junior Drum and Bugle Corps from Canton Ohio. He was a founder of The Keystone Indoor Drill Association, and was also Chief Judge, Judging Coordinator and Vice President of Drum Corps Associates. Additionally he was the Director of the Westshoremen Senior Drum and Bugle Corps as well as the Program Director and visual designer for The United States Naval Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. For 16 years he was the visual designer and instructor for Carlisle High School. Larry Hershman has been involved in the marching music activity most of his life and was inducted into the Cavalcade of Bands Hall of Fame in 1987 having served as a judge and the visual caption chairman.
